Signals & Signalmen - Part 1 'In The Beginning'

For those of you who have ever wondered what actually happens in the signal boxes and signalling centres around the county. You may have heard of 'Pride & Prejudice', 'Sense & Sensibility' but now something very different!

'Signal & Signalmen' looks at the technology and people that every day prevent trains colliding in spectacular fashion! Going from the early days of a stopwatch, flag and the hope that a driver won't crash into the train in front (which sometimes worked), to the modern systems in use right now on the national network.

Part one looks at the early days and how they tried to prevent "stupid" mistakes which caused many accidents.
