Kurnool Bus Fire : Hyderabad - Bengaluru Volvo Accident - 12 Dead | 20 Survived Out of 40 Passengers

Early on October 24, 2025, a Kaveri Travels Volvo Bus traveling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru caught fire near Chinna Tekuru village, Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh, after colliding with a motorcycle. The motorcycle reportedly got trapped under the bus, which triggered a fire that engulfed the vehicle within minutes.

The bus was carrying around 41 Passengers. Many were asleep when the Bus Fire started. The doors were reportedly jammed, so Several Passengers escaped by breaking windows. Around 20 passengers survived, while at least 12 people have been confirmed dead, with more feared missing or critically injured. DNA testing is being conducted to identify the victims whose bodies were badly charred.

Fire and rescue teams reached the scene, but the bus was completely destroyed. The Prime Minister’s Office announced compensation of ₹2 lakh for the families of deceased passengers and ₹50,000 for the injured.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the fire, including whether it was triggered by the motorcycle’s fuel tank or a mechanical issue in the bus. Officials continue to collect information on passengers and are verifying the final death toll.
