Building a Spruce Bark Canoe - E2 - Making the Gunwale Frame

The gunwale frame is what will give the canoe it's shape. It is composed of the inwales(inside the bark) and the outwales(outside the bark). In this episode I build these frames and start securing them to the bark structure. Bark canoe is taking shape.

The canoe model that I am building is based off of Edwin tappan adney's books on bark canoes. The model is a maliseet temporary hunting canoe and would be built quickly when needed. It is based off of a model built by a first nations builder in 1895.

Episode 2 est sur la construction des plats bord. Cette structure donnera la forme finale au canot. Je la construit avec des petits arbres. Aulne, bouleau et saule. Le modèle de canot est basé sur un canot fait en 1895.
