An expert's guide to bleaching roots with Bleach London Plex Bleach on type 4 hair followed by Bleach London Champagne Super Toner.

1. Divide hair into two even sections then into 4 neat quarters keeping the hair as tidy as possible.
2. Apply bleach through the divide then take thin neat slices and work through each quarter. If you are doing your own hair start with the front sections so you can rinse them out if they finish developing before the back.
3. Leave out the hair line to apply last of all. The hair here is very fine and prone to more damage and will also lift very quickly.
TIP: Bleach swells and expands as it develops so be careful not to overlap onto the already bleached hair to avoid damage and banding.
4. Let the bleach develop for up to 45 minutes, checking the progress every 10 minutes. The perfect colour is a very pale yellow like the inside of a banana skin.
5. Rinse, shampoo and apply Seal the Deal for 20 minutes then rinse out. Now the hair is ready for toning.
6. Starting at the roots, apply the toner through the hair in even slices and massage in.
7. Apply more toner to the mid lengths and ends and smoosh through to massage into the hair.
SMOOSH (verb): Massage colour along the lengths reapplying more dye onto the hair. Massage as you go to avoid patchiness.
8. Develop for 20 minutes then rinse out and follow with conditioner.
