DIY Press On Nails That LAST

My press-on routine for nails that last 3+ weeks (sometimes a month) 💅

If your press-ons keep popping off, it’s usually not the glue: it’s prep and moisture.

Why they lift:

Your natural nail is smooth, oily, and flexible. Glue bonds better to a dry, lightly etched surface, and water too soon after application can weaken that bond before it fully cures. (Which is why “hot water and oil removal hacks” are not exactly confidence-inspiring.)

My routine:
Dry manicure: no soaking
Push back/remove cuticle + clean up nail plate
(Optional) file around the cuticle for extra prep
Lightly buff natural nail to remove shine
Size press-ons correctly (I tend to prefer shorter sets for longevity)
Glue on natural nail + inside press-on
Hold each nail 20–30 seconds (don’t rush this)
Apply before bed + avoid water for 12 hours
Trim/file weekly to keep them looking fresh
That’s it, mostly prep and patience! And I’m serious…if your nails could come off with dish soap and warm water, they’d be leaving during kitchen cleanup.
Save this for your next set and let me know if you try it ✨
