James Kottak (Louisville, December 26, 1962) is a US drummer.

Since 1996 he has been a member of the Scorpions, but during the 2016 season he has been replaced by the former drummer Motörhead, Mikkey Dee, for health problems. [1]

Prior to becoming a member of the Scorpions, Kottak was drummer of Montrose, Kingdom Come, Warrant, Wild Horses, McAuley Schenker Group and Buster Brown.

He also played for Michael Lee Firkins. He also continues his solo project, the Kottak (originally KrunK), whose founder was the second album.
James is married to Athena Kottak, rock star Tommy Lee, drummer of the Mötley Crüe; James was also the founding member of KrunK. The couple has three children, Tobi, Miles and Matthew.
