Girard-Perregaux introduced a new material - 8Tech and of course, the bolder and more expressive Laureato Absolute is the first to wear it, right at Geneva Watch Days 2023.

The sand-blast on the grey-black gradient dial is masculine, cool is the recessed hour markers that reveals the lume base layer. Pretty fair sizing for a sports watch at 44mm diameter and 15.15mm thickness. The Calibre GP03300 self-winding movement powers the Laureato Absolute 8Tech.

Compared to other Laureato Absolutes with carbon fibre cases, the patterns formed by 8Tech is evidently more elaborate and sophisticated. We learned that the patterns on each watch are not uniform due to how the mix is treated under fire and pressure, meaning you get a piece unique Laureato with the 8Tech. The high performance material is 5 times lighter than steel with comparable strength.

The progressive experimentation with material is apparent and while we believe the best is yet to come, the 8Tech is definitely the most appealing Laureato so far.
