ARMENIA: Scenic Road to Gyumri and the Emili Aregak Centre
We travel to Gyumri via the scenic road through Spitak and then visit the Emili Aregak Centre for disabled youth.
We begin our journey from the spectacular backdrop of the Saghmosavank Monastery in Artashavan, experience the amazing hospitality of the locals, before travelling on to Aparan, where we stop for a break.
Then we drive to Spitak via a spectacular road, before reaching our destination in Gyumri.
We visit the amazing Emili Aregak Centre for disabled youth and meet the equally amazing Sara, who is the Development Officer of the centre and the Aregak Bakery & Cafe (which we will feature in Part 2)
Sara shows us around the centre and explains its origins and purpose and then we are greeted by the Chef's Assistant, the remarkable Mikael who, despite his disability, is an inspiration to us all.
Finally, we are treated to a little concert by some inspiring young people, some with serious disabilities, who put on a remarkable performance. Then the staff and youth gather in the dining area for lunch, but first they pray the Lord's Prayer.🙏
