50% Rule - Fall Seeding - Montana Farming 2021

In today's video we discuss the 50% Rule with my Dad. LOL That means that at any given time 50% of our equipment is broken down. Equipment breakdown is common on all farms and certainly happens on our Montana farm. Darcy is seeding with the John Deere tow-behind seeder and our other Flexi Coil seeder had a hydraulic leak that Uncle Chris is fixing. Once it is fixed Uncle Chris and I get into our John Deere tractor with the Flexi Coil seeding drill. This one is a tow between meaning that the seed and fertilizer cart is between the tractor and the drill. We start seeding and we notice that we are not actually seeding! LOL So, we start seeding again and we have to go and seed the skips we made in the mile-long field. A sharp turn makes another hydraulic line pop off, so Uncle Chris fixes that too. Dad is having fun with his drone today and there is some great scenery! I hope you like my video. Thank you for watching!

My Story…
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens, and I am a 17-year-old 4th generation Montana farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north-central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was two years old. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm, and I hope that my Farm to Fashion and Farm to Table products can help educate people about where their food comes from in a fun way. That is how Kate's Ag - Farm to Fashion became a reality.
