Great
- Best looking bike I have ever bought/owned
- Power (tractable and smooth). Feels like a 300 two stroke should feel. Great low end power and great mid range. Little bit flat at the higher RPMs, but that is normal for a motor like this one.
- Plenty of adjustment in the triple clamps for handlebars
- Starts instantly
- Simple two stroke with very little to break that would get you stranded. Premix bike.
- 7 lbs lighter than this bike was in 2017! It is still heavier than some of the other bikes in it's class, but we will take it. Give praise where it's due. They wanted to take weight off the bike and they accomplished it. Remember that some of this would have been the kickstarter, so now I'm not as happy about it. We will get to that later.
Good
- Grab Handle on the rear fender - why don't all bikes have this???
- Headlight is decent and would be adequate for getting home in the dark.
- Brembo clutch, but more stuff clutch pull despite the same master cylinder
- Improved kickstand foot pad, but a little short overall. Bike leans over a lot, so you just look for a high spot to put it on.
- Tighter turning than the 200RR! Not the tightest turning bike I have, but certainly not the worst!
- Great KYB fork components that many shops now how to deal with, but it might take them a couple of tries since this frame is very rigid. Be prepared to have to tune it though!
- Good Carburetor Keihin that many people know how to tune.
- Love that they encourage you to tune and play around with the power valve. Makes a big difference in performance.
Lower seat height great for soft enduro and pivot turns. But pegs are lower and I hit them on things more often.
- Nice upward camber on the pegs makes me feel locked in on the bike
- Battery Capacity indicator - nice touch.
Needs Improvement
- Speedo cable comes out easily and rubs - had to replace mine after a short time.
- Brakes - Nissin front and rear - a little grabby, but overall worked well
- Radiators can bend easily - some bikes require radiator guards. I think this is one of those bikes. - Flimsy guards on there from factory.
- Seats gets stuck and is hard to take off
- Graphics peel off around the boots
- Plastics are very sharp and can cut you. Had to sand down a few parts and probably need to sand off more.
- Despite being counter balanced, this bike vibrates much more than the KTM and husky bikes
- Seems really thirsty on fuel - ran out before all of bikes we rode with - needs larger tank
- Give us lock on grips. Tires of spinning grips.
- Exhaust leaks and sprays all over the junction even though I bought a new pipe and a new rubber coupler. Have to use Silicone every time I take it off.
- Too many buttons and horns on the handlebars. This is the race edition! Not street legal, so don't do all that. Put the kill switch on the other side!
- Air filter not symmetrical meaning is has to go in ONE WAY. While it isn't super easy to install upside down, it is possible and this would be catastrophic to your motor. Just update the airbox and filter so that it's dummy proof.
- Map switch - EH... didn't think it did a whole lot. Not sure why I want the bike to run worse and I feel like that is what those things do. And it makes the tank harder to take off and put back on.
- Poptart holder - I crush my poptart when sliding up for corners. Not ideal.
Bad
- Brittle plastic all over (fenders, frame guards)
- Ride-ability? Nope. And I LOVED the 2019 390 Race Edition! Forks were WAY too stiff for the general public doing off-road and enduro riding. Sure it was okay in 4th and 5th, but who's riding there most of the time? Was MUCH stiffer than the YZ250FX that is also a "race bike"!
- Trip computer kept resetting totally so I'd lose track of hours and miles.
-Needs a more reliable hour meter
- Needs finger clickers - They exist. Do it.
- We want the kick starter to be on the bike from the factory. Race teams put them back on. That should tell you something!
