When it comes to wavy and curly hair, if you're air drying your hair, you might not need a product that gives you heat protection. If you diffuse your hair to cut down on drying time and if you use your diffuser on medium or high heat, you will need a product that gives you heat protection.

Now when it comes to heat protection, a finishing product will not be able to help you. Why? Because a finishing product can ruin your gel cast if you use it before diffusing your hair. To overcome this issue and keep the gel cast intact, I'm going to suggest 3 options to consider while adding in the benefit of heat protection (in your styling routine).
1. Use a prepping mist with heat protection.
i.e prep with the heat protection spray, then go in with a leave-in conditioner or curl cream and end with gel
2. Use a Oil/Serum that gives you heat protection in the LOG Format of Styling i.e. Start with a Leave-In conditioner, then go in with the serum/oil and then end with gel
3. Use a gel/custard with heat protection ie Start with a Leave-In Conditioner and then go in with the custard as your last step.
