Hiking in Tresticklan National Park from Sweden to Norway | Sweden’s Wilderness & Border Crossing

Join us on a unique hike through Tresticklan National Park, hiking from Sweden to Norway, where we combined three beautiful trails:

Bråtaneslingan (8.5 km, yellow markers): the most popular loop trail in the park.

Budalsvikaleden (red markers): leads you all the way to the Norwegian border, where we crossed into Budalsvika.

Orshöjdenleden (orange markers): a rewarding detour up to Orshöjden (276 m), the highest point in the park, with stunning views over the forest and lakes.

🌍 Did you know?
The Budalsvika trail is part of the Hallevägen, a 40 km historical trading route once used to transport goods between Sweden and Norway. Today, it offers hikers the chance to walk in the footsteps of history while exploring remote Nordic landscapes.

📍 Practical info:

Parking: available at the main entrance of Tresticklan National Park.

A detailed hiking map is posted at the entrance.

Trails are well marked with different colors (yellow, red, orange).

The full route we hiked is longer than the usual Bråtaneslingan loop due to the Budalsvika and Orshöjden detours.
This hike is perfect if you want to experience the remote wilderness of Sweden, cross into Norway by foot, and enjoy one of the least crowded national parks in the country.
