How to find VALENCY of NEON?

This video explains easy method of finding valency of Neon(Ne) from its atomic number.
Valency is the combining capacity of an element. Atoms combine with other atom by sharing, gaining or losing electrons to get octet configuration( 8 valence electrons)
For atoms having less than 4 valence electrons, they try to loose electrons to get octet configuration
Example Sodium has only one electron in its outer shell. It can get its octet by loosing 1 electron or by gaining 7 electrons. Loosing 1 electron is easier than gaining 7 electrons. That is why Na looses I electron and achieve its octet configuration.
They all do so to maintain stability.
IN SODIUM
Atomic number of Neon is 10
Electronic configuration of Neon is 2,8
There are 8 valence electron present in Ne.
valency = 0
Hence valency of Neon is 0.
