'Dictator Dan' is trying to build a 'COVID Gulag'
The Institute of Public Affairs’ Gideon Rozner says police fining Melbournians $5000 on the spot for driving into regional areas will “smash the communities faith in the police for a generation”.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews on Thursday warned Victoria Police were prepared to administer a $5000 on the spot fine for those caught travelling from metropolitan Melbourne into regional areas.
Mr Rozner added the premier was proposing to put a bill to parliament which would allow him “to detain people, without trial, for being high risk spreaders, including conspiracy theorists and anti-lockdown protesters”.
“We all talk about Dictator Dan, he is literally trying to build Covid Gulag here,” Mr Rozner told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
“This is dystopian outlandish stuff.”
