One in six youngsters will be on jobless benefits by the end of the decade without urgent action.

Former Labour cabinet minister Alan Milburn’s assessment of youth unemployment warns the number of young people not in education, employment or training is on course to jump by a quarter to 1.25 million.

Labour will be advised to reform welfare or risk a 'lost generation' of young people to a life on the dole.
