‘These Attacks Happen Because Police Fear Being Called Racist’

Two brothers accused of assaulting an armed police officer at Manchester Airport have been cleared after two juries failed to reach verdicts. Prosecutors have now dropped the case and the judge ordered not guilty verdicts to be recorded. The pair had argued they were acting in self-defence during the confrontation, which became a huge public row after footage showed one of the brothers being kicked in the head by an officer. One of the brothers has still been convicted over other assaults linked to the same incident and is due to be sentenced next month.
