On this day in 2000, Prince William spoke out publicly about Princess Diana’s death for the first time.

The young prince talked about how upset he and Prince Harry were by the publication of a book about his mother.

William also outlined his plans to spend a gap year in South America before going to University.The 18-year-old would spend the first part in Belize before working in a remote part of Chile.
