Joo Yang tells the story of her discovery of love and freedom through her experience growing up in famine-ravaged North Korea and ultimately escaping. It was an underground connection to the outside world that fueled her hope for a better life - a life she now lives, and one she claims so many others in North Korea dream of. Through it all, it was love that ultimately freed her.
Joo Yang grew up in North Korea, surviving on her own from age 16 until she ultimately escaped. Now she is an ambassador for freedom and tells the story of how it was love that set her free.
