In Conversation With … Annette Matthews
In Conversation With … Annette Matthews, who talks to Nona about her MPN journey, from ET to MF to having a stem cell transplant (SCT) in 2017 and life beyond. Annette tells Nona that once she was told about her transformation she went on a trial for a new drug, which initially did help but once it stopped working she went back on Ruxolitinib and was advised to have a SCT.
She says that she was very shocked and thought ‘why me?’ but the team had found two 100% donor matches, so she felt very lucky and the whole team in King’s College Hospital, London, looked after her very well and now, she no longer has a MPN. She tells Nona that having a SCT is very emotional, but she was very positive about it, and decided that before the transplant she would do some things with her family, like riding their motorbikes to Switzerland, which was great fun. Annette has been a member of the MPN Voice fundraising team for many years and is still very active and involved with the team and events and we are very grateful for her wonderful support.
