ROAD HUNTING TROUT...HNH Spot and Stalk Fly Fishing..South Platte, Colorado 2021

This Fly Fishing Colorado video was shot on the South Platte River near Deckers on March 23, 2021. It was in the low 20's with flurries. This fishery is about 40 miles from Denver and Colorado Springs. Heavily pressured with lots of day fishers from the city, guides with clients and multiple other recreational users. We fished all day with a two fly, 'western nymph rig", alternating between a number 4 and 6 weight. Small midges in black and rs2's in gray with flash. As per usual for us, we only fly fish for trout on this river in the winter and then we try to pick the worst days of weather. Cold fronts activate fish in the winter and they deactivate the anglers. That sounds like the recipe for another HighNoonHunt.
