Venceremos (Coro Yugoslavo) - We Will Triumph (Yugoslav Choir)

The Chilean revolutionary song "Venceremos", sung in Spanish by a Yugoslav choir in solidarity with Chile, which was under a military junta at the time of recording. During the Cold War era, the Chilean left and Yugoslavia maintained close ties which peaked during the administration of Salvador Allende. After the 1973 Coup in Chile, Yugoslavia gave refuge to socialists who fled the country. Josip Broz Tito was quick to blame the United States for the coup and stated, "We have lost one of the most faithful members of the nonaligned movement, we have lost Chile. As a result of international reaction and imperialism, the legitimate Government has been overthrown and a great man, a great comrade, President Allende, has been murdered by hireling generals."
