Modern Concrete Driveway Design - What to Look Out For

With this modern driveway design there were a few things I had to take into consideration. First, this driveway was built on a slope, so I had to connect all the slabs together so that they won't gradually slide down the hill. Second I used a top cast finish in order to create extra grip on each slab. This type of finish only affects the top layer of concrete by slowing down the curing process. Third, we poured this driveway six inches deep to hold the weight of vehicle traffic. Next we used 3/4-inch white gravel to fill in the spaces between each slab. Because of the size and angular shape this gravel compacts well, making it easier to walk on and a better choice than more rounded gravel.
