Hours of Service - Short Haul Operations (Local CMV Drivers), The Rule and Update for 9-29-2020
Hours of Service for Property Carrying Vehicles has a great exception that keeps Commercial Motor Vehicle Drivers (CMV) from needing to complete Records of Duty Status (Logbooks) or Electronic Logging Devices (ELD's).
The Short Haul Operations Exception is a must use option for both CDL and Non-CDL Drivers of Commercial Motor Vehicles. Today, with the September 29, 2020, Hours of Service Update, the Short Haul Exception for CDL Drivers has never been better. Now CDL drivers can be on-duty for 14 hours and still not need a logbook or ELD.
