14 years after she first went missing, police finally find Kandis Fitzpatrick's remains

Ontario's Durham Regional Police say they have identified human remains belonging to a young woman who disappeared over a decade ago, and that the man convicted in her death led investigators to where he buried her.

Police said on Wednesday the remains are of 19-year-old Kandis Fitzpatrick, who went missing in March 2008 in Oshawa, Ont.

In 2021, police received a tip that human remains were buried underground in a large greenspace area in northern Oshawa.

The man convicted of her death led investigators to a greenspace in north Oshawa where he buried her remains. Catherine McDonald has more on this story.

Crime Beat has reported on this case before, when a judge sentenced Adam Strong to a concurrent life sentence with no chance of parole for 25 years, and 18 years in prison for the murder of Rori Hache and the manslaughter of Kandis Fitzpatrick, teens who went missing on the streets of Oshawa nine years apart.
