First Time Free Ranging Chickens in Our Backyard

I don't really know how to start free ranging chickens? As usual, we are winging it.

Our first day free ranging chickens in the backyard. They stayed around the yard and around the perimeter of the woods. Our plan has been to free range chickens during the day. We had a little trouble on this day getting te chickens back into the coop but only because we tried to early. We just let the chickens return to the coop when they are ready and close it up when the chickens are all back inside the coop for the night.

Free ranging chickens safely is a concern. We waited a little over a week to let them out of the coop on their own. When leaving the house we used a call to get them used to our voices. I think most importantly, we give the chickens treats. I don't know if any of this makes a difference or if they just would have been fine to begin with. It worked for us though!

-We wanted to start a hobby farm or homestead
