In 1969 ontving het 32nd TFS de McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II. Het besluit om de F-102's in Europa te vervangen kwam eerder dan verwacht als gevolg van de Russische interventie in Tsjecho-Slowakije. Eind november had het 32nd TFS 18 F-4E's.

In 1969 the 32nd TFS received the McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II aircraft. The decision to replace the F-102's in Europe came earlier then expected as a result of the Russian intervention in Czechoslovakia. By the end of November the 32nd had 18 F-4E's.
