History of Sudoku
• There were similar number puzzles popular in newspapers in France as far back as 1892.
• Modern Sudoku is believed to have been invented by Howard Garns, a 74 yr. old architect from Connersville Indiana US in 1979. However he died before the puzzle became popular. This has been questioned as A Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler (1707-83) came up with a similar system.
• It was introduced, published and became popular in Japan when the game, became a registered trademark in 1986
• In 1997 it was introduced then in New Zeeland by a retired judge, (Wayne Gould) who developed a mathematical system for producing puzzles quickly .
• It then rapidly spread to Australia, Britain, 2004 then Canada and in the US.and now all over the world.
Thought for the day. We don't stop playing, because we are old, we grow old, because we stop playing.
