Dónal agus Mórag - LYRICS + Translation
Dónal agus Mórag is a pretty famous wedding song and there are many different versions in both Irish and Scottish Gaelic.
This version by Altan is from Rathlin Island (off the coast of Co. Antrim) the first two verses of which survived the death of the dialect on the Island to be published in Mary Campbell's "Rathlin Stories" (1936). Proinsias Ó Maonaigh, the father of Altan's Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, composed the last two verses.
The Irish spoken is a combination of Ulster Irish and Scottish Gaelic.
Performed by Altan
Album: Harvest Storm (1992)
