Song of India & Aimant La Rose (Le Rossegnol) - Tito Schipa w/Translations

Two Rimsky-Korsakov Pieces,
Chanson Indoue (Song of India)
and Aimant La Rose, (Le Rossegnol)
Sung by Tito Schipa

Song of the Indian Guest (Chanson Indoue)

Innumerable are the diamonds
in the stone caves,
Innumerable are the pearls
in the midday sea of
miraculous far off India.

There is in the warm sea
a marvelous ruby stone,
on that stone is a phoenix
with a face of a maiden.
Heavenly are all it's songs,
sweetly it sings,
it unfurls it's wings,
and covers the sea.
Anyone who hears the bird
will forget everything.

Innumerable are the diamonds
in the stone caves,
Innumerable are the pearls
in the midday sea...
of miraculous far off India.

N. Rimsky Korsakov : Aimant la rose, le rossignol op.2 N°2

Aimant la rose, le rossignol de jour,
de nuit pour elle chante;
mais la rose en silence écoute…
Ainsi chantait un amoureux pour
celle qu’adorait son coeur;
mais la charmante enfant ignore vers
qui ces chants si langoureux et tristes montent
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Loving the rose, the nightingale of day,
night for her sings;
but the rose in silence listens...
Thus sang a lover for the one adored by his heart;
but the charming child does not know
to whom these songs so languorous and sad rise
