DEVO's Gerald Casale Interview: The Stories Behind The Songs "Whip It" & "Smart Patrol/Mr. DNA"

If ever there were a time for Devo, this is that time. Devo's founding member, co-lead singer and co-songwriter Gerald Casale joins CREATV Media's Peter Csathy to give a revealing look into how he and his co-spud boy Mark Mothersbaugh created Devo' most classic song "Whip It." He discusses how Devo's 3rd album "Freedom of Choice" (which celebrated its 40th anniversary this year) represented a massive departure from the band's earlier guitar-driven sound to a new dance-able electronic sound that was influenced by Prince (yes it's true). In a bonus, Gerald also discusses how album #2's "Smart Patrol/Mr. DNA" came to be -- and served as a bridge from their past to their future sound.
