Professor John Braithwaite speaks at UCT on restorative justice

Leading criminologist Professor John Braithwaite of the Australian National University delivered the Vice-Chancellor's Open Lecture at the University of Cape Town on 26 July 2012. In his lecture, titled Restorative Justice: Republican vision and justice as a better future, he argued that restorative justice focuses on the needs of the victims and of the offenders, as well as on the community affected, instead of satisfying only abstract legal principles or punishing the offender.
