Vorpal Hexapod Scratch Example: Ultrasonic Rangefinder Sensor
This short video shows how to use Scratch to read a sensor on the Vorpal Hexapod and use it to change the hexapod's behavior. In this simple example, an HC-SR04 ultrasonic rangefinder is used to measure the distance from the robot to the nearest object. If an object is less than about 10 inches (25 cm) away, the robot turns to avoid the obstacle. Although simple, this example is a great way to introduce students to the idea of using sensors to help a robot navigate in the world.
