How to Connect a PC Speaker to Your Motherboard

Connect a speaker connector with jumpers to your Computer Mainboard simply by figuring out the correct jumper either by reading the labels on the board or looking at the manual. In my case, the H170M PRO-VDH/B150M PRO-VDH/CSM-B150M PRO-VDH motherboard has SPEAKER+ and SPEAKER- (SPKR+/SPKR-) connectors at the bottom right, close to the SATA connectors.

You just plug the PC speaker connector to it and already your computer will be able to beep and buzz!

PC Speaker (internal audio) are important for error codes. For example if your computer is overheating, the PC Speaker might warn you about shutdown a few seconds before. In the past PC Speakers were used by video games to play music.

PC speakers are very important for when the BIOS can recognize during power-on self-test (POST) sequence that the graphics card is broken but you don't see the screen and can't read error messages because of that. Although modern motherboards often have LEDs built-in to show error codes like these.
