WTO at 25: Pandemic lessons for multilateral trade
At a virtual event to mark the 25th anniversary of the WTO, senior government officials, representatives of the private sector, civil society and international organisations emphasized the key role of trade in the COVID-19 response. The pandemic reconfirmed the need for a rules-based system to deal with scarcity issues and unequal access to goods and services. Trade can benefit people everywhere by facilitating the flow of medical supplies around the world to where they are needed.
