Jewish Culture - Modern Israeli Holidays (7b of 22 sessions)

The modern state of Israel has created three holidays that many Jews elsewhere observe - Yom Ha-Shoah v'ha-Gevurah (Day of Holocaust and Heroism), Yom Ha-Zikaron (Israeli Memorial Day) and Yom Ha-Atsmaut (Israeli Independence Day). How influential are these holidays today, and what do they reveal about the benefits and challenges to creating new holidays?

Rabbi Adam Chalom, Dean for North America of the International Institute for Secular Humanistic Judaism, continues his adult education curriculum "An Introduction to Jewish Culture." Recorded with Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation in November, 2021.
