Rafah Border Crossing has opened for humanitarian aid
The Rafah Border Crossing separating Gaza from Egypt has now opened for humanitarian aid to reach Palestinians.
The US Embassy earlier had confirmed the opening of the border which will allow foreign nationals to leave the besieged Palestinian enclave.
US President Joe Biden reached an agreement with Egypt’s leader during a call on Thursday following his trip to the Middle East to allow around 20 trucks into the region.
The trucks will carry food, water, and medicine into southern Gaza which has been under a total blockade and without basic essentials under Israeli authority’s order.
Piles of humanitarian aid had been sitting in Egypt waiting to be delivered but were held back due to complications over how to monitor the trucks which enter Gaza and how to establish a continuous flow of essential items, according to the UN.
