Still We Rise

I wrote this yesterday, thinking about everything that's going on politically, and the truths that women are sharing, and - most specifically - for those close to me who always rise above the trials of life and see the positive in every situation, no matter what storms they may face.

They're badasses.
They're kind and gentle.
They're strong and determined.
They're really good role models.

[Imagine it faster, with a bodhran keeping time, and sailor harmonies on the choruses (you know... as the sails are being raised on the masts.) I fully intend to be whole and well and able to perform again soon (so may it be). But just in case I'm not, here's a rough draft. It's super hard to play and I messed up a chord at the end. Oh well... life is imperfect. And I know it's a weird song... I was born in the wrong century.]

"Still We Rise"
Moon moves tide
Current flows far from shore
Beneath a starlit sky
Drowning hearts dream of more
Rise again

Soulful cry
Sails unfurl on the seas of change
Ill wind whispers lies
Ocean swells strangely
Rise again

Still we rise, into the storm [X3]
We will not be broken
Rise again

Cast the die
Set course beyond misfortune
All must try
To see beyond distortion
Rise again

(Chorus)

Into the storm, let the tempest rage
We will not be pulled under
Into the storm, let the tempest rage
We will not go down

Onward through the gale
Our eyes upon the horizon
We shall not fail
Every time we rise and
Rise again

(Chorus)

(Hard messed up chord)
