U.S. Highpointing World Record

Josh Sanders (33, Grand Rapids, MI) and Lindsay Sanders (23, Schoolcraft, MI) broke Jake Meyer's United States highpointing world record on Sunday, July 12th, 2015. The previous record was 23 days, 19 hours and 31 minutes set by Meyer in 2006. The Sanders siblings stood atop all of the lower 48 states highest peak in 19 days, 7 hours and 37 minutes. They started on Mt. Rainier in Washington state at 6:12am PST on June 23rd and made the summit of Mt. Hood in Oregon that same day before nightfall. The climbing duo battled 60 degree unstable snow slopes in Montana, an icy, steep and dangerous Bonney Pass in Wyoming, a porcupine attack and 3 straight days of hail in the southwest to break the record. This video shows a photograph at each summit and the exact local time the summit was reached as well as a short video shot at each summit for verification.
