John Fisher, born in 1760 in Berks County, Pennsylvania, later moved to Hampshire County, Virginia, where he entered the militia during the American Revolution. He served under Captain Michael Stump and Captain Sylvester Ward, marching through key Virginia locations as the war drew to a close. After the Revolution, Fisher migrated west and settled in Pickaway County, Ohio. He applied for a pension in 1832 at age 71, his service recognized under the Act of June 7, 1832. This episode honors his life as both a Revolutionary soldier and an early Ohio settler.
