Meet the Artist - David Downes

David Downes is a composer, pianist, producer, and musical director of the Irish ensemble Celtic Woman. He was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1975.

He has written several original songs for Celtic Woman, including:

The Soft Goodbye,
Send Me a Song,
One World,
The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun,
At the Ceili,
Sing Out!,
Granuaile's Dance,
Last Rose Fantasia,
The Blessing,
The Call, and
Green the Whole Year Round.

As a composer, he has worked extensively in theatre, notably The Hunt for Red Willie and The Shaughraun at the National Theatre of Ireland, and in television and film for RTE's The Enemy Within and Thou Shalt Not Kill, and in Jeff Daniel's Escanaba in the Moonlight.
