No Man Can Serve Two Masters
Jesus famously said that no man can serve two masters. And by this he was referring to both God and mammon (i.e., money).
One of the many dangers of attempting this is in that man will eventually have to choose between the two, and since man's reason is often subtly, though powerfully, influenced by his passions, he will often serve money before God. He reverse the roles: he will use God as a tool and serve mammon as his master.
Check out this video with Dr. Brant Pitre where he covers this text from Matthew 6, where Jesus commands us not to be anxious about life and not to try to serve two masters and the dangers therein when it comes to God and money.
