Written as an eternal reminder of the 14 innocent civilians shot down dead on the streets of Derry during a peaceful civil rights march on Sunday 30 January 1972 in what was to become known as Bloody Sunday.
This song serves as a tribute to those 14 men and boys, but also as an acknowledgement that something changed that day. This was a real catalyst in creating the togetherness of the nationalist community and the increase in resistance of the British State.
It was only 38 years later in 2010 where the British authorities acknowledged all 14 were entirely innocent of any wrongdoing and were in fact murdered. Although no-one has been brought to justice over the events.
