Columbia Model 234 Chinook Fire Suppression-Jenkins Ky Nov.2016

During the month of November 2016 forest fires raged in and around the City of Jenkins Ky. The City of Jenkins Fire Department responded to over 80 calls in a 10 day period with many crews operating as long as 50 hours and longer. Numerous Federal, State, and local agencies struggled to bring the fires under control. Columbia Helicopters was brought in to help contain the fires threatening many residential areas as well as the Jefferson National Forest. This 2650-gallon bucket Columbia Model 234 Chinook, one of the largest in Columbia's fleet was in our area for days helping out.
