We finish out this awesome workbench by staining and painting the various components. To accomplish this we first had to build some last minute details for the table. These included a built in assembly paper dispenser and a simple clamp rack. Both of these fixtures were painted later with hammered metallic spray paint. They turned out great! Next was to disassemble the table and remove all of parts for prep and stain.

Once all of the items were removed we moved on to carefully taping off the areas of the table which would not be stained. Once that was complete I proceeded to sand all of the areas which had not previously been sanded. Finally we could begin staining the table using a 2-in-1 stain/polyurethane mix from Minwax. Only one coat was needed to get the desired look on the wood. The contrast of pine and maple veneer plywood was awesome! Once all of that was dry it was just a matter of putting the table back together. Now the table has a great finish but remains a SUPER functional asset in my shop.

To recap: The table has fully integrated two-stage dust collection, power distribution including automatically turning on the dust collector when certain power outlets are used, sortismo-inspired parts bin storage on both sides of the table, full extension drawers on both sides of the table, and open storage on the end of the table for clamps and assembly paper. This table has it all!
