Kathu (காத்து) or Kathy is the superhit Tamil cartoon series for children. Kathu the cute kitten is the central character of the movie. She lives with dad, mom and younger brother Kittu. Appu the squirrel and three grasshoppers are her best friends. The neighbours include uncle crane, Oriole, Kingfisher family, the thieves Chindan and Chundan, the main villain is Kandan the wild cat. Their pranks and plays make the songs and stories of this animation movie.

Kathu is a family story. The fundamental theme of this animation movie is the essential life values. The second volume of Kathu features five stories, three songs and four musicals. The content is Pranks (குறும்பு) Arrogance (பிடிவாதம்) Politness (பணிவு) Envy (பொறாமை) Smartness (சாமர்த்தியம்).

Three volumes of Kathy had been released so far and each one is a superhit. In 2011 Kathu volume 1 got the state award for best children's programme. Now days Kathu is an integral part of every kinder garten.
