Ukraine destroys 2 more Russian A-50 aircraft: Operation 'Spiderweb' deals major blow to Russia
The scale of Ukraine’s drone attack on key Russian air bases has proven to be far greater than initially believed, according to independent analysts who have reviewed exclusive, as-yet-unreleased footage of the strike. Kyiv-based security analyst Jimmy Rushton reported seeing the video, which he said clearly shows two FPV drones directly hitting the radar domes of two A-50 airborne early warning aircraft. The strikes were highly accurate, with explosions occurring immediately upon drone impact. The footage also captures hits on several Tu-22M3 bombers. This account was corroborated by American journalist and military analyst Michael Weiss, who also reviewed the footage. He stressed that the targeted aircraft are exceptionally valuable and nearly impossible to replace. Russia reportedly had only six A-50s, and now only four remain. These losses represent more than just equipment damage, they mark a major strategic blow to the Kremlin’s air defense and offensive infrastructure. Following these developments, Ukraine’s General Staff updated its data on Russian losses, revising its figures twice in one day. After verifying sources and analyzing satellite imagery, they reported a total of 41 aircraft destroyed in the latest strikes, including strategic bombers and other combat aircraft. This raised the cumulative Russian aircraft losses to 413 since the invasion began.
