Climate Change at a Crossroads: David Rhynas at TEDxRideauCanal
Climate Change at a Crossroads. A lot has happened since the documentary movie An Inconvenient Truth and there are some compelling updates on the latest science and solutions. This talk considers a number of initiatives our society could readily undertake that make sense in their own right and would contribute to a more sustainable world.
David Rhynas is a Professional Engineer with extensive experience planning and managing the development of computer-based communication systems. He is an engaging presenter and has worked with a cross section of private and public sector clients in North America and overseas. His academic background includes degrees in systems design and electrical engineering. He is a long-term member of the David Suzuki Foundation.
David is a volunteer with Climate Reality Canada whose mission is to raise awareness about the climate crisis and work towards potential solutions. He became inspired after reading Al Gore's book Our Choice and attending a training session by Mr. Gore. There are a number of initiatives our society could readily undertake that make sense in their own right and would contribute to a more sustainable world.
Prior volunteer activities include 5-year Board member and President of the Ottawa Tennis and Lawn Bowling Club, the largest tennis facility in Canada with 18 clay courts. David also demonstrated a huge commitment to junior development by brining the Tennis Canada U14 Outdoor Nationals to Ottawa for three years (2002-2004), acting as Tournament Chair.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
