The Royal Institute of Philosophy (TRIP) Lecture at the University of York: Oliver Burkeman

This event took place at the University of York Thursday 2 February 2023, 6.15pm to 7.45pm.

'Our limited time on the planet – and our limited ability to control how that time unfolds – are obvious and un-ignorable to anyone who reflects even briefly on the human situation. Yet our daily experience of time seems organised around denying these truths, instead of adapting to them. We struggle to master incoming streams of information (and emails) even though those streams are effectively infinite; or feel we can't relax until we know what the future holds, when of course we never will. Drawing on his book Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals, Oliver Burkeman explores what it might mean to live with a greater acknowledgment of our temporal limitations – and why this might be a path not only to greater peace of mind, but also to doing more effective work in the world.'
