Guglielmo Marconi - First radio transmission from airplane to receiver on the ground
Researches and experimentation carried out with the small, spark transmitter, nicknamed “Marconcina” (small Marconi) and the carborundum receiver Omnibus; the first built in 1915 at the Officina Marconi in Genoa, the second produced in 1912 by Marconi Wireless Telegraph Co Ltd. ---

Historical re-enactment in Orbassano (To) in September 2021 of the first radio transmission made by Guglielmo Marconi between one aircraft and the ground station. Detailed information can be found on the following link http://airepiemonte.org/orbassano.html
Thanks to the tireless will of some members of A.I.R.E. a close collaboration has been established between RAI and in particular with the Turin Production Center, seat of the Radio and Television Museum, and our association. This relationship has given rise to a beautiful series of cultural and scientific initiatives, making it possible to enhance the Museum by merging it with the passion and skills of the members. The great trust that the management of the museum has in our association has allowed the conservative restoration of some of their equipment. These include a spark telegraph transmitter commonly called "Marconcina" and a receiver called "Omnibus". During the First World War, all technological knowledge and scientific research were subjected to military requirements. This is the context in which the spark transmitter for aircraft comes to life in the Marconi workshop in Genoa. Device equipped with a transmission range of a few kilometers, used in very high-risk missions under constant enemy fire, has allowed our army to have the vital information that determined the final victory. The receiver as described in the user manual was mounted on a "cart pulled by quadrupeds with generator" and consisted of a receiver apparatus with carborundum or Fleming's diode detector.
Fleming's diode was faithfully reconstructed by partner A.I.R.E. (A. Erbea)
