Learn how to configure AWS Auto Scaling Group with demo | Cloud With Mohsin

I hope you had a wonderful weekends.

In last topic, we have covered the theory part of AWS Auto Scaling groups and this lecture is about the demo part of the same.

We will perform the following steps in this lecture:

1. Create a launch configuration which contains AMI ID , Instance type, user data, key pairs etc.

2. next steps is to navigate to launch configuration and copy it to create launch template.
This is required as launch template comes with better features as compared to the launch configuration.

3. We will then create the auto scaling group using the launch template created as per step2.
In this step , we will define minimum, maximum and desired number of ec2 instances. We will also setup the health check grace period and cooling period of the ec2 instances.

4. We will monitor activity section of the auto scaling group to see the events.

5. Once ec2 instances are launched , we will try to terminate one of ec2 instance to check if the auto scaling is working as expected and will verify if the new instances gets launched automatically to replace the terminated instances.

6. finally we will delete the auto scaling group and see the effect of the same on the ec2 instances that are running.
This will conclude the demo.
